Publication has rules (spdx), we could pass them to Hugo. Extra properties are not a problem, and we can later integrate them in a template pretty easily.

JSON output from doi.org may also contain license (seen so far: creative commons links, not spdx) which can be an alternative source. (edit: https://github.com/CrossRef/rest-api-doc/blob/master/api_format.md#license)

Maybe even a CC badge for Hugo page?
